Captain John Smith created the first detailed map of the Chesapeake Region. His Map of Virginia was published in 1612, remained in active use for seven decades and opened this part of North America to European exploration, settlement and trade. Smith's map records not only the geographic features of the Chesapeake, but also its cultural aspects, including more than 200 Indian towns. Many of the place names remain in use today.

The "Map of Virginia" is part of the WILLIAMSBURG collection. We have chosen to divide the map into four for a dramatic wall hanging. The giclee prints are framed under a lucite shadowbox in which  the interior board is wrapped and upholstered in a cotton/linen fabric.

Each section of the map is sold separately.

Materials: giclee print, lucite frame
